Minority to Boycott Deputy Trade Minister-Designate Vetting

The Minority in Parliament has decided to boycott the vetting of Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, the Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry. The decision stems from their dissatisfaction with the large size of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government and its economic performance. The Minority Caucus cited severe economic challenges, including food insecurity, debt default due to excessive borrowing, government corruption, and wasteful expenditures, as reasons for their refusal to participate.

The Caucus criticized the administration for its continuous nomination of additional ministers, arguing that it demonstrates a lack of understanding of the economic difficulties faced by Ghanaians. They emphasized that participating in the vetting process would further burden the already struggling population. The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, stated that the President should focus on downsizing the government rather than expanding it.
