XDefiant Release Imminent as Producer Teases Date After Test Success

Following a recent server test session for the upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter XDefiant, Executive Producer Mark Rubin announced that the game is nearing its official release. During the test, which took place from April 19 to April 21, 2024, Ubisoft San Francisco identified a series of technical issues that are now being addressed, including the Delta-01 error, matchmaking system problems, and delayed health bar animations. Rubin acknowledged the mixed feedback from players, particularly concerning net code issues and time-to-kill discrepancies caused by the health bar lag.

Despite these challenges, Rubin expressed optimism about the game's progress and stated that the team is working diligently to resolve the outstanding issues before the launch. Some of the issues experienced by players, such as being shot around corners and forced into matches with high pings, are being specifically targeted for improvement.

While XDefiant has experienced multiple delays since its first beta test in April 2023, Rubin indicated that the release date announcement is forthcoming. He also emphasized that the game aims to establish its unique presence in the FPS market, rather than directly compete with established titles like Call of Duty. With the server test providing valuable insights, Ubisoft is confident in the game's potential and is making final adjustments ahead of the impending release.
