Starship Troopers: Extermination Launches October 11 on Consoles

Starship Troopers: Extermination, a first-person shooter developed by Offworld Industries, is set to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 11, 2024. The game, based on the sci-fi satire franchise, will leave Early Access on this date. The console versions will be available both physically and digitally, priced at $49.99. The game has been in Early Access on PC since May 2023, where it was available for $29.99.

The 1.0 update will include a new single-player mode featuring 25 missions and various player-versus-enemy combat scenarios across different environments. Casper Van Dien, who starred in the original 1997 Starship Troopers film, will reprise his role as Johnny Rico in this mode. Additionally, a second chapter is planned for post-launch. The game will also feature a team-based multiplayer mode where players can choose from six unique classes to complete objectives and defend bases against hordes of bug-like enemies.

The update named Carnage of Planet X-11, released in early June, added new features like the Carnage System, which allows the bodies of defeated bugs to remain in place, creating strategic elements on the battlefield. New bug armor and a powerful listening array were also introduced. The game is currently being published by Knights Peak, a new European division of MY.GAMES, which aims to establish the title as an authentic franchise experience. Crossplay will be enabled at launch, and more details about the upcoming update are expected to be revealed soon.
