'Massive' Ukrainian drone strike hits Russia's Lipetsk region, says governor
Residents in Russia's western region of Lipetsk have been evacuated following a significant drone attack by Ukrainian forces. The attack led to explosions, disrupted the power supply, and injured six people. The regional government declared a state of emergency and evacuated four villages, some located near an air force base. Local authorities have also increased security measures and canceled all entertainment events in response to the attack.
In addition to the Lipetsk region, Russian forces reported destroying three drones and three drone boats near Sevastopol in Crimea. The Russian defense ministry stated that a total of 75 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight, primarily over the Belgorod and Lipetsk regions. Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed any strikes in the Lipetsk area, though President Volodymyr Zelenskiy praised the Ukrainian military's strategic operations. The incident follows heightened tensions and battles in the Kursk region after a cross-border raid by Ukrainian troops.
