Helldivers 2 Steam Players Now Required to Link PSN Accounts

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has mandated that all Helldivers 2 players on Steam must link their accounts to the PlayStation Network (PSN) for increased security measures. The decision, aimed at combating griefing and abuse within the game, requires new players to establish this connection from May 6th, while existing players are given until June 4th to comply. The company emphasizes that the integration of PSN with Steam will enhance player safety and offer a system for banned players to appeal.

This move has been met with some resistance within the Helldivers 2 community, as certain players express frustration over the requirement to create secondary accounts. Despite these concerns, Sony insists that the linking of accounts is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the gaming environment and tracking instances of misconduct.

Additionally, the integration coincides with the introduction of a premium BattlePass, "Polar Patriots," set to launch on May 9th. As the developer Arrowhead Game Studios reinforces the importance of security within their games, it remains to be seen how this requirement will affect the game's concurrent player numbers on Steam.
