Final Fantasy XIV director eager for potential Switch 2 release

Naoki Yoshida, director of Final Fantasy XIV Online, has expressed interest in bringing the game to a Nintendo platform, potentially the rumored Switch 2. Yoshida, known for his ambition to make the game accessible on as many devices as possible, sees this as a long-term goal. This comes after years of efforts to expand the game's availability, most recently achieving a release on Xbox platforms.

While there are no official plans for a Switch 2 port at this time, Yoshida emphasizes that such a move would require careful consideration of time, money, and resources. Despite the Nintendo Switch nearing the end of its lifecycle, the possibility remains open for the game to be available on its successor. Yoshida's vision is for players to access the game regardless of their device, though any future release on a Nintendo platform may be subject to regional or distribution limitations, such as cloud streaming.
