Zak Brown extends tenure as McLaren CEO with new contract through 2030

Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, has signed a new contract extension that will keep him with the Formula One team until the end of 2030. Since joining the Woking-based outfit in 2016, Brown has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the team's performance and broadening its motorsport endeavors, which now include an IndyCar programme, as well as Formula E and Extreme E operations. His leadership saw McLaren Racing secure their first Formula One victory since 2012 at the Italian Grand Prix and successfully reestablish a partnership with Mercedes for engines.

The new contract underscores the team's trust in Brown's vision and leadership capabilities, as he navigated the company through significant financial challenges, including a £150m loan during the COVID pandemic. Paul Walsh, McLaren Group's executive chairman, commended Brown's exceptional leadership qualities. Brown has expressed excitement about the future, particularly with McLaren's current driver lineup, including Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who he believes are among the best duos on the grid.
