'X-Men '97' Creator Claims Marvel Removed Credits Over Pride-Themed Fan Art

Beau DeMayo, the creator and former executive producer of the animated series X-Men '97, has claimed that Marvel removed his Season 2 credits after he posted Pride-themed fan art on Instagram. DeMayo shared the fan art in June to celebrate Pride Month and subsequently stated that Marvel informed him on June 13 that his credits were stripped due to the post. He described this as part of a troubling pattern of issues he faced while working on the series and the Blade project.

DeMayo announced his departure from the show shortly before its premiere and has since decided to take a break from social media to find a safer space. Marvel/Disney representatives have not commented on the allegations. Matthew Chauncey, a writer for "What If…?," has been hired to take over writing duties for the show's third season.
