Urgent Measles Alert for Abu Dhabi-Dublin Flight Passengers

Passengers who were on Etihad Airways flight EY45 from Abu Dhabi to Dublin, which arrived on the morning of March 9, 2024, have been advised to urgently contact the Health Service Executive (HSE) of Ireland due to a confirmed measles case on board. The HSE has specifically requested that pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals, and parents of infants under 12 months old reach out to HSELive or their local Department of Public Health for potential immediate treatment.

All passengers from the flight are encouraged to monitor for measles symptoms, such as a high fever, cough, runny nose, and a rash, until March 30, 2024, which marks the end of the incubation period. Health officials have stressed the importance of the MMR vaccination as the most effective means of protection against measles. Amid a recent uptick in measles cases in Europe, the HSE has emphasized the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing outbreaks.
