Scientists have discovered that molecules from fish gut bacteria can enhance skin appearance by providing anti-wrinkle and skin-brightening benefits. This research, published in ACS Omega, identified 22 molecules from the gut bacteria of red seabream and blackhead seabream, fish native to the western Pacific Ocean. The study evaluated these molecules' ability to inhibit tyrosinase and collagenase enzymes in lab-grown mouse cells without causing cell damage. Three molecules were found to have significant anti-aging and brightening effects, suggesting potential use in future cosmetic products. This research was supported by various Korean institutions, including the Marine Biotechnology Program of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
