Trump Supporters Start $355M GoFundMe to Pay His Fine

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to raise funds for former President Donald Trump following a $355 million civil fraud judgment against him. The campaign, set up by Elena Cardone, wife of real estate investor Grant Cardone, aims to help Trump cover the financial penalty imposed by the New York State Supreme Court. The judgment came after Trump was found liable for inflating the value of his assets on financial statements. The crowdfunding effort, titled "Stand with Trump; Fund the $355M Unjust Judgment," managed to collect over $18,000 within the first five hours and continued to gather support, with a total exceeding $63,000 in just 21 hours.

Critics of the fundraiser, however, have raised concerns, pointing out that Donald Trump, who claims to be a billionaire, may not need public fundraising to pay the judgment. Additionally, some social media users have suggested that the campaign may violate GoFundMe's terms of service, which prohibit raising money for legal defenses in certain circumstances, including some types of criminal defense. Despite the controversy and the large sum remaining to be raised, Trump supporters continue to donate, with the largest single contribution reported being $2,500 from an anonymous donor.
