Trailer for Live-Action Minecraft Movie Starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa Released
Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for its live-action film adaptation of the popular video game Minecraft. Directed by Jared Hess, the film features an ensemble cast including Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. The trailer, rated G and running for 1 minute and 19 seconds, provides a glimpse into the Minecraft universe, featuring familiar elements such as a flying Piglin army, a howling wolf, and a creeper.
The movie, scheduled for release in the United States on April 4, 2025, tells the story of a group of misfits who are transported into the Minecraft Overworld through a portal. They must navigate this creative world and protect it from evil creatures, including the malevolent Ender Dragon. The project is a collaboration between Mojang Studios, Microsoft, Vertigo Entertainment, Legendary Pictures, and On the Roam.
In addition to Black and Momoa, the cast includes Sebastian Eugene Hansen as Henry, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement.
