TON Blockchain Experiences Six-Hour Outage

The Telegram Open Network (TON) has experienced a significant disruption, failing to produce a new block for over six hours. This issue arose following the launch of the DOGS memecoin, which resulted in an abnormal load on the network. The surge in transactions overwhelmed the blockchain's validators, leading to instability and halting block production. Major exchanges, including Binance and Bybit, temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals of TON as a precautionary measure.

The disruption has also impacted the price of TONcoin, which fell by approximately 5%. Observers have pointed to the network's struggle to handle the increased transaction volume following the DOGS airdrop as a contributing factor. Additionally, the arrest of Telegram's CEO, Pavel Durov, in France has further complicated the situation, leading to increased scrutiny and backlash from the Telegram and TON communities. The incident has raised concerns about the blockchain's infrastructure and its ability to manage large-scale events effectively.
