Stellantis Recalls Over 1 Million Vehicles for Brake and Software Issues

Stellantis-owned Chrysler is recalling approximately 1.2 million U.S. vehicles due to a software malfunction in the anti-lock brake system that could disable the electronic stability control system, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall includes certain 2019, and 2021-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. Additionally, 32,863 Jeep Gladiator vehicles and 32,873 Jeep Wrangler vehicles are being recalled for an internal short circuit issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlighted that the software issue may inadvertently shut down the stability control, which manages the throttle and brakes to prevent skidding. Despite this malfunction, the brakes will continue to function. Stellantis has reported no crashes or injuries related to these issues. Dealers will update the software at no cost to the vehicle owners, who will be notified via letters starting October 3.
