Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 to Premiere in October with Two Episodes
The first teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" was unveiled during the Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The animated comedy series will premiere on Paramount+ on October 24 in the U.S. and internationally, with the first two episodes debuting on the same day. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly every Thursday, culminating in the series finale on December 19. The upcoming season will follow the crew of the USS Cerritos as they work to close subspace rifts causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. The voice cast includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Jerry O'Connell.
Additionally, Paramount+ has announced a new series, "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy," featuring a cast that includes legacy actors Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman. The series will also star Holly Hunter, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, and Paul Giamatti. Production is set to begin next month, with Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serving as co-showrunners and executive producers. The series will follow a group of cadets as they navigate the challenges of becoming Starfleet officers amid emerging threats to both the Academy and the Federation.
