Sausage Party: Foodtopia Trailer Drops, Seth Rogen’s Wild Comedy Moves to TV

Prime Video has released the trailer for "Sausage Party: Foodtopia," an eight-episode animated sequel series to the 2016 film "Sausage Party." The series is set to premiere on July 11 and will continue the story of anthropomorphic food items navigating their existence after discovering the truth about their fate. The main cast from the original film, including Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton, will return to voice their characters.

"Sausage Party: Foodtopia" is produced by Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter, who also co-wrote the original movie, along with executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee from Point Grey Pictures. Conrad Vernon, who directed the original film, also returns as a director and executive producer. The series will explore the aftermath of the characters breaking free from their supermarket reality, featuring the same raunchy humor and adult themes that characterized the original film.

The original "Sausage Party" was a financial success, grossing over $140 million worldwide, but it was also controversial due to allegations of animators being overworked. The new series, co-produced by Annapurna Television, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon Studios, aims to build on the success of the original film while expanding the story into a serialized format.
