Samsung Launches Fastest 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM for AI

Samsung Electronics has announced the development of the industry's first LPDDR5X DRAM, offering performance capabilities of up to 10.7 Gbps, which marks a performance improvement of 25% over previous versions. This latest innovation in memory chip technology is designed to meet the demanding requirements of AI applications across various platforms including mobile devices, PCs, servers, and automobiles.

The LPDDR5X DRAM has been engineered using a 12nm class process technology, resulting in a significant reduction in chip size compared to existing LPD DRAMs. With a substantial increase in single package capacity to 32 gigabytes, these chips are positioned to address the growing need for high-capacity, high-performance, and energy-efficient memory solutions. The chips are also designed to be 25% more power efficient and feature expanded low-power mode intervals to maximize energy savings.

The new memory chips are expected to enhance the performance of AI processors, gaming-oriented mini PCs, handhelds, and other high-end devices. Samsung is slated to begin mass production of the LPDDR5X DRAM in the second half of the year, with plans to test the chips with mobile chipsets and anticipate integration into flagship devices by the end of the year.
