Russian Strikes Result in Casualties in Ukraine's Kharkiv
A Russian military strike on the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure. In the aftermath, an Azerbaijani lawyer who resides in Russia was among the injured, highlighting the impact of the conflict on individuals from various backgrounds. Notably, a 98-year-old Ukrainian woman, Lidia Stepanivna, survived the shelling. Despite the harrowing experience of walking without food or water, falling multiple times, and the perilous conditions, she was ultimately located by Ukrainian forces and taken to a shelter designated for evacuees. The interior ministry is actively seeking her relatives.
Russia has consistently denied allegations of deliberately targeting civilians in the ongoing war, which has entered its third year. The recent events in Kharkiv add to the extensive record of hostilities affecting populated areas in Ukraine.
