Russian Drone Debris Falls Near Ukraine Parliament After Overnight Attack
Ukrainian air defense reportedly shot down 58 Russian kamikaze drones during an early morning attack on Saturday. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that a total of 67 drones were launched by Russia, with 58 being successfully intercepted. Debris from the Iranian-made Shahed drones fell near the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliamentary building, but no damage to the premises or casualties were reported.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m., prompting an air alert in Kyiv that lasted until approximately 3:20 a.m. Many residents were awakened by the sounds of air raid sirens and subsequent explosions. Ukrainian air defense units were activated in 11 regions across the country to respond to the attack. Since the start of Russia's invasion in 2022, numerous missile and drone attacks have been launched into Ukraine.
