Richard Gadd's New Drama Series 'Lions' Lands at HBO
Richard Gadd, the creator and star of the Netflix series "Baby Reindeer," is set to launch a new series titled "Lions," co-produced by HBO and the BBC. The six-episode drama will be directed by Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck and will explore the complex relationship between two brothers, Niall and Ruben, over nearly 40 years, from the 1980s to the present day. Gadd will serve as an executive producer alongside Wendy Griffin, Tally Garner, and Morven Reid for Mam Tor Productions.
The series marks Gadd's move from Netflix to HBO, with international distribution outside of the UK and U.S. handled by Banijay Screen Scotland. The production, which is expected to begin in Glasgow in 2025, follows the critical success of Gadd's "Baby Reindeer," which he adapted from his one-man show debuted at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding "Baby Reindeer" and a lawsuit involving Fiona Harvey, who claims the show misrepresented her story, Gadd's new project has generated significant anticipation.
