Poland Prevents Belarus-Russia Cyber Sabotage

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, announced that Polish security services have successfully thwarted a cyber sabotage operation orchestrated by Russia and Belarus. The operation targeted local and central government institutions, including state-owned companies involved in military contracts, with the aim of extorting information and blackmailing individuals and institutions. Gawkowski stated that this was part of a broader effort to wage a de facto cyberwar.

Gawkowski noted that cyberattacks targeting Polish organizations, particularly those involved in logistical support for Ukraine, have doubled since last year. Poland has accused Russia of attempting to destabilize the country due to its role in supplying military aid to Ukraine, allegations which Russia denies. In addition to cyberattacks, Poland has linked Russia to incidents of sabotage and arson and claims that Russian secret services are actively seeking information on weapons deliveries to Ukraine.
