Perrie Edwards Drops Debut Solo Single 'Forget About Us'
Perrie Edwards, previously a member of the pop group Little Mix, has released her debut solo single titled "Forget About Us." Collaborating with Ed Sheeran, David Hodges, and Steve Solomon, the song marks Perrie's first venture into music as a solo artist. The track is part of her upcoming album, which does not yet have a confirmed release date. Perrie has been recording her album primarily in London and has also worked with other artists and songwriters, including Jin Jin and RAYE.
The single has been described as a pop ballad with country sensibilities and is said to feature "Motowny" moments, "guitar-led ballads," and tracks with "Mariah Carey vibes," suggesting a blend of genres. Perrie has expressed her aim to ensure that the album represents a variety of genres, with each having multiple tracks to maintain both cohesion and diversity within the project. She has shared that the process of creating her solo music has helped her gain confidence in her writing and concept creation.
The launch of Perrie's solo career follows the announcement that Little Mix would be going on hiatus, with each member pursuing individual projects. Perrie, who has faced challenges such as a fear of dancing, has overcome her insecurities and is taking "full ownership" of her new musical direction. The music video for "Forget About Us" was shot in Cape Town and directed by Jake Nava. Perrie is the last of the Little Mix members to release solo music following the group's split.
