Paris Olympics Skateboarding Delayed by Bad Weather
Heavy rainfall in Paris has led to the postponement of the men's street skateboarding competition at the Paris Olympics. The event, initially scheduled for Saturday, will now take place on Monday. The decision was made after consultations among the organizers, citing safety concerns due to the adverse weather conditions. The rescheduled event will retain the original timings planned for day one.
The rain not only disrupted the skateboarding competition but also affected the opening ceremony, which featured 85 boats carrying nearly 7,000 athletes from 205 countries along the River Seine. Despite the heavy rainfall, other indoor events such as gymnastics, diving, and swimming continue as planned. Tennis matches at Roland Garros are proceeding, although future schedules remain uncertain due to potential weather disruptions.
World Skate, the governing body for skateboarding, confirmed the postponement and noted that the women's skateboarding event remains scheduled for Sunday. The French meteorological office has issued flood warnings for certain areas around Paris, but Meteo France predicts a warmer-than-average summer ahead.
