Overnight fire at Lake Mead Marina destroys nearly 15 boats

An overnight fire at Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Las Vegas Boat Harbor Marina caused damage or destruction to approximately 15 boats and resulted in minor injuries. The fire, which began around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, also damaged docks at the Hemingway Harbor facility. Firefighters from multiple agencies, including Clark County, Henderson, Boulder City, and the Bureau of Land Management, responded to the scene and contained the blaze by 3:30 a.m.

One firefighter was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and several individuals were treated for minor burns. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Despite the incident, the marina is open to the public, though park officials have issued a partial closure of the harbor's R and I Docks and advised visitors to exercise caution due to potential safety concerns. Power has been restored to the marina following a temporary outage.
