One Dead, Eight Trapped in Hotel Collapse in Germany's Moselle Region
A hotel in Kroev, western Germany, partially collapsed on Tuesday night, resulting in one fatality and trapping eight others. The collapse, which occurred around 11 p.m., left nine out of the 14 occupants trapped initially, while five managed to escape unharmed. The body of the deceased has been located but not yet recovered by emergency services.
Approximately 250 emergency workers, including drone specialists and rescue dogs, are engaged in the complex rescue operation, hindered by the risk of further structural collapse. Authorities have evacuated 31 nearby residents as a precaution. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and the identities of those affected have not been disclosed. The region, known for its picturesque towns and vineyards along the Moselle River, is a popular tourist destination.
