Nothing Debuts ChatGPT-Enabled Ear and Ear (a) Earbuds

Consumer technology company Nothing has expanded its product line with the launch of two new wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear and Ear (a). These earbuds feature smart active noise cancellation that can adapt to environmental noise and detect leakage between the buds and the ear canal, offering up to 45 dB of noise reduction. The Ear model boasts a custom 11 mm dynamic driver, a dual chamber design, and an IP54 ingress protection rating. It also supports high-resolution audio codecs like LHDC 5.0 and LDAC, and offers personalized sound profiles through Mimi technology.

The more affordable Ear (a) variant provides users with longer battery life, boasting up to 42.5 hours of music playback with its charging case. Both models are equipped with a ceramic diaphragm for enhanced audio quality and offer fast charging capabilities. In addition to these features, Nothing has integrated ChatGPT into their earbuds, allowing users to interact with the AI through voice commands, similar to other virtual assistants.

The integration will become available on April 18th, starting with the Phone 2, and will roll out to Phone 1 and Phone 2A in subsequent weeks. This feature requires users to have the latest Nothing OS and the ChatGPT app installed on their compatible Nothing smartphones.

Pre-orders for the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) have begun, with general availability set for April 22nd. The Ear is priced at $149/£129, while the Ear (a) comes in at $99/£99. The products aim to offer premium sound and functionality, incorporating sustainable practices such as using recycled materials and renewable energy in their assembly process.
