Newgarden Claims Fifth St. Louis IndyCar Victory After Controversial Restart

Josef Newgarden secured his fifth victory at the St. Louis-area IndyCar race at World Wide Technology Raceway, marking his fourth consecutive win at the track. He took the lead during a late pit stop and managed to hold off teammate Scott McLaughlin on two restarts. Despite a partial spin-out on Lap 196, Newgarden was not seriously challenged for the remainder of the 260-lap race. The win contributes to a sweep for Team Penske's No. 2 cars this year, following Austin Cindric's victory in the NASCAR Cup race.

Defending series champion Alex Palou extended his points lead after his closest rival, Will Power, was knocked out in a late crash, despite leading more laps than any other driver. Pietro O'Ward had to retire from the race due to engine trouble, and Marcus Ericsson, who led 13 laps, ended his race early due to an issue with the hybrid system. The final road race of the season is scheduled to take place in Portland, Oregon.
