New Twisters Trailer Unleashes Fiery Tornado on Powell and Edgar-Jones

Universal Pictures has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming sequel to the 1996 disaster film "Twister," titled "Twisters." The new film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser who has since turned to studying storm patterns from the safety of New York City. She teams up with a character played by Glen Powell, known as the "Tornado Wrangler." The cast also includes Anthony Ramos, and the film will feature Helen Hunt, reprising her role from the original.

"Twisters" is slated for release on July 19, 2024, and is produced by Frank Marshall, with a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. The story follows the characters as they face a series of intense tornadoes, including one scene involving a rodeo evacuation. The trailer teases homage to the late Bill Paxton, who starred in the original film alongside Hunt.

The film is being fast-tracked by Steven Spielberg and will pay tribute to the original's spirit while serving as a standalone continuation of the "Twister" legacy. It will be distributed by Universal Pictures domestically and by Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.
