Meerut Metro to Launch India's Fastest and Most Advanced Train Service

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has unveiled the Meerut Metro, a new urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The metro, aimed at providing a modern and efficient mobility solution, is being constructed in two phases: the first phase from Partapur to Modipuram, featuring 13 stations, and the second phase from Shradhapuri Phase II to Jagriti Vihar, with 12 stations. The metro will operate on a 23-kilometer corridor, including 18 kilometers of elevated track and 5 kilometers underground. The construction is progressing with a projected completion date set for 2025.

The three-coach trains are designed to accommodate over 700 passengers and can reach speeds up to 180 kmph, with a maximum operational speed of 120 kmph. The trainsets, manufactured domestically by Alstom under the 'Make in India' initiative, include features such as ergonomically designed seating, luggage racks, USB charging facilities, and advanced safety measures like CCTV cameras and emergency communication systems. The NCRTC's Managing Director, Shalabh Goel, highlighted the metro's modern interiors and passenger-centric features during a ceremony at the RRTS depot in Duhai, Ghaziabad. The metro aims to reduce travel time, alleviate traffic congestion, and stimulate economic growth in the region.
