Kuwait Unveils Major Offshore Oil Discovery

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has announced a major oil discovery in the Al-Nokhatha field, located east of the Kuwaiti island of Failaka. The newly discovered reserves are estimated to be around 3.2 billion barrels of oil, which is equivalent to Kuwait's entire production over three years. KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Nasir Al-Sabah made the announcement via a video posted on X.

This discovery represents a significant milestone for Kuwait's oil sector. In addition to the 3.2 billion barrels of oil, the Al-Nokhatha field also contains substantial quantities of associated gas. The initial phase of exploration includes drilling six exploratory wells, with daily production from the NoukhithA -1 well estimated at around 2,800 barrels of crude and 7 million cubic meters of gas. The total hydrocarbon reserve in the Manageesh strata is estimated at 2.1 billion barrels of oil and 5.1 trillion standard cubic feet of gas, making the total reserves equivalent to approximately 3.3 billion barrels of oil. Further phases of exploration and development will be determined based on the results of ongoing drilling activities.
