Kelce Brothers Issue Joint Statement on Super Bowl Parade Shooting

During the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade, a shooting occurred that resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to at least 22 others. The incident, which took place on February 14, led to the arrest of three suspects, with two juveniles being charged in connection with the shooting. Among the victims was 43-year-old DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two.

In response to the tragedy, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, along with his brother Jason Kelce, used their "New Heights" podcast platform to convey a heartfelt message. They extended their condolences and support to the victims, their families, and the entire Kansas City community. The Kelce brothers praised the local law enforcement and first responders for their actions during the crisis.

To aid those affected, the Kansas City Chiefs organization, together with the Hunt Family Foundation and the NFL, set up a fund and contributed $200,000. Travis Kelce, through his Eighty-Seven and Running charity, made a significant donation to a GoFundMe page for two young victims. The Chiefs community and United Way of Greater Kansas City have also initiated the KCStrong fundraiser, which has gathered over $850,000. Pop star Taylor Swift contributed $100,000 to a charity page in honor of Lopez-Galvan. Additionally, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Kelce's foundation supported the cause, contributing to the fund to help with medical expenses. The emergency response fund aims to support the victims' families, as well as provide for mental health services and violence prevention efforts.
