Kate McCann Details Harrowing Drink Spiking Incident

Times Radio broadcaster Kate McCann has disclosed a personal incident where she was the victim of drink spiking at a London bar. McCann described the perpetrators as a group of men who were unconcerned with being seen while carrying out the act. She realized something was amiss after waking up at 4am on her bathroom floor, having felt unwell and disoriented after just one sip from her drink earlier in the evening. Despite noticing the group and returning their initial drinks to the bar, McCann and her colleagues were affected. She managed to get home via Uber, although she does not recall the journey.

McCann's disclosure came in response to an article discussing the prevalence of drink and drug spiking in the UK. The issue was brought to light on a platform previously known as Twitter, where others have shared similar harrowing experiences. Official statistics from the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) show that there were 6,732 reported spiking incidents between 2022 and 2023, with the majority involving spiked drinks, 957 involving needles, and the rest unspecified. However, experts believe the actual number of cases to be higher, as not all incidents are reported.
