Jonathan Majors Gets Probation in Assault Sentencing

Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Marvel films, has been convicted of assault and harassment charges stemming from a March 2023 incident with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The actor, who is 34 years old, was found guilty of third-degree reckless assault and second-degree harassment by a jury in December 2023. However, he was acquitted on charges of intentional assault and aggravated harassment. Following the conviction, Marvel Studios terminated his role in the franchise, including his character Kang the Conqueror.

The altercation, which took place in New York City, involved accusations of physical violence by Majors against Jabbari. During the trial, evidence presented included body camera footage and text messages. In response to the guilty verdict, Majors has been sentenced to a year of domestic violence counseling and must complete a 52-week batterer's intervention program. In addition, he is required to continue with ongoing mental health therapy. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in Majors facing a year in jail.

In the wake of these events, Disney canceled the release of "Magazine Dreams," which starred Majors. Furthermore, Jabbari has initiated a civil lawsuit against Majors, alleging assault, battery, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress, claiming to have endured abuse since the beginning of their relationship in 2021. Despite the legal outcomes and professional consequences, Majors maintains his innocence and has indicated his intention to comply with the sentencing requirements.
