iOS 18 Brings Custom App Icons and AI-Generated Emojis

Apple is preparing to unveil iOS 18 at the upcoming WWDC event, scheduled to begin on June 10, 2024. This new operating system will introduce significant enhancements, focusing on artificial intelligence and home screen customization. One of the most notable features will be the ability for users to change the color of app icons and position them freely on the home screen, moving away from the current fixed grid system. This customization option, previously achievable only through hacks, will now be a fully supported first-party feature.

Additionally, iOS 18 will feature AI-driven tools, including the ability to generate custom emojis based on user text inputs. This functionality aims to provide continuous and dynamic emoji customization, eliminating the need for annual updates. Other expected updates include improvements to built-in apps such as Safari, which will receive AI-powered features and enhancements to its Web Eraser tool and Intelligent Search. Further AI integration across various Apple apps, including Photos, Siri, Voice Memos, and Notes, is anticipated to enhance user experience by automating tasks and offering predictive suggestions.
