Influential British Blues Legend John Mayall Dies at 90

John Mayall, a significant figure in British blues music, has passed away at the age of 90 due to health issues. His family confirmed that he died peacefully at his California home on July 22, 2024. Mayall was instrumental in developing the English take on urban, Chicago-style rhythm and blues during the blues revival of the late 1960s. His band, The Bluesbreakers, included notable musicians such as Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Mick Taylor.

Mayall's debut LP, "Blues Breakers," is widely acclaimed, ranking No. 195 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003. Over his career, he earned Grammy nominations for his albums "Wake Up Call" and "The Sun Is Shining Down," released in 2022.
