Indonesia Offers Peacekeepers and Medical Teams to Gaza

Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto has announced that Indonesia is prepared to send peacekeeping troops and medical personnel to Gaza if required to enforce a ceasefire. Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier security conference, Prabowo praised U.S. President Joe Biden's three-phase proposal for a ceasefire, describing it as a step in the right direction. He emphasized Indonesia's readiness to contribute significant peacekeeping forces to maintain and monitor the ceasefire, providing protection and security to all parties involved.

In addition, Prabowo revealed that Indonesia is prepared to evacuate, receive, and treat up to 1,000 patients from Gaza following the conflict. As a former special forces general and the current Indonesian defence minister, Prabowo also called for a comprehensive investigation into the humanitarian disaster in the Rafah area of Gaza and advocated for a "just solution" to the situation in Palestine. He reiterated the need for a two-state solution as the only real resolution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Prabowo will assume the presidency of Indonesia in October, succeeding President Joko Widodo.
