IDF Vaccinates Soldiers Against Polio After Gaza Outbreak

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated a vaccination campaign for soldiers stationed in the Gaza Strip following the detection of poliovirus in the region. The Technological and Logistics Directorate, in coordination with the Health Ministry, is overseeing the operation. The vaccinations, which are voluntary for soldiers, will be administered gradually as troops rotate in and out of the area. This initiative aims to protect both the health of the soldiers and the Israeli public.

In parallel, the IDF is collaborating with international organizations to deliver vaccines to Gaza's population. Approximately 300,000 doses have been introduced since the beginning of the conflict, enough to cover more than a million residents. Public health officials and aid groups have raised concerns about the vulnerability of Gaza's population to disease outbreaks, given the significant damage to the region's health infrastructure during the ongoing military offensive.
