Huawei’s Innovative Tri-Fold Phone to Debut in September
Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch the world's first tri-fold smartphone, expected to debut in September. Spotted recently in the hands of Huawei's CEO for Consumer Business Group, Yu Richard, the device features a unique tri-fold design, which may make it thicker than traditional flat-screen phones. It is anticipated to measure around 15mm when folded. The phone, which boasts a 10-inch foldable display and a camera module reminiscent of the Mate 50 series, is likely to operate on the HarmonyOS Next operating system. This launch is part of Huawei's strategy to diversify its product offerings and compete with other companies in the foldable phone market.
The new foldable device is expected to be powered by Silicon-Carbon technology, allowing for higher energy density, although it may not match the fastest charging capabilities of its competitors. The smartphone will also feature advanced camera capabilities and improved multitasking functionalities, addressing durability challenges with robust hinge mechanisms and reinforced materials. While no official pricing details have been confirmed, the device is expected to be highly priced and initially released in limited quantities, possibly remaining exclusive to the Chinese market. The tri-fold smartphone will be launched before the Mate 70 series, set to debut in the last quarter of the year.
