The Season 2 finale of HBO's House of the Dragon has been leaked online, with approximately 30 minutes of footage surfacing across various social media platforms. The leak, which occurred five days before the official air date on August 4, appeared initially on TikTok, where it attracted hundreds of thousands of views before the account was banned. Despite efforts to remove the content, the videos have since been shared on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit.
This incident mirrors a similar leak that occurred with the Season 1 finale in October 2022. At that time, HBO attributed the leak to a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO has condemned these leaks, stating they disrupt the viewing experience for loyal fans. The show has been renewed for a third season, set to premiere in June 2024, and a new Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is currently in production.
