Hillsborough Deputy Arrested for Boating While Intoxicated

During the St. Patrick's Day weekend, Deputy Clinton Ormsbee of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) was arrested by an officer from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for boating under the influence (BUI). Ormsbee, a 15-year veteran of the HCSO currently assigned to the Court Operations Division, was operating a vessel that was stopped for not displaying navigational lights.

Upon investigation, the FWC officer determined that Ormsbee appeared to be impaired. Ormsbee allegedly refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently taken into custody. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail on charges of BUI.

Following his arrest, Ormsbee has been placed on administrative leave without pay. The HCSO has initiated an internal affairs investigation to review his conduct in relation to the incident.
