Ford Recalls Over 112K F-150 Trucks Due to Roll Away Danger

Ford Motor Company is initiating a recall of 112,965 F-150 pickup trucks, specifically models from the years 2021 to 2023, which are outfitted with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package. This recall is in response to concerns that a defective rear axle hub bolt could potentially break due to fatigue. Such a break could result in damage to the axle hub splines or a loss of driving power, increasing the risk of the vehicle rolling away if the parking brake is not engaged.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a warning regarding the issue and is monitoring the situation. Ford is in the process of developing a permanent solution to address the defect. Meanwhile, owners of the affected vehicles are advised to listen for any clicking or rattling noises emanating from the rear axle, which could indicate a problem with the bolt. Should they detect any unusual sounds, they are encouraged to bring their trucks to a Ford dealership for an interim repair to mitigate the issue until a full remedy is available.
