Fire Consumes Historic First Baptist Church in Dallas, Partially Collapses

A fire broke out at the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas on Friday evening, resulting in significant damage to the sanctuary, which dates back to 1890. The blaze, which escalated from a two-alarm to a three-alarm fire, caused the partial collapse of the building. Dallas Fire-Rescue units responded quickly, deploying nearly 40 units to the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no other buildings were damaged.

The church, which was originally established in 1868, is pastored by Robert Jeffress, a notable evangelical leader and supporter of former President Donald Trump. Jeffress has called for prayers for the church following the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the extent of the damage has not yet been fully assessed. The congregation, which now worships in a modern facility adjacent to the historic sanctuary, numbers around 16,000 members.
