Fatal Stabbing at Capitol Hill Light Rail Leaves One Dead
A 37-year-old man has died after being stabbed at the Capitol Hill light rail station in Seattle. The incident took place shortly before 6 p.m., during which the station was bustling with commuters and local events nearby, such as a Mariners game and a concert at the Lumen Event Center. The victim received immediate aid at the scene and was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The altercation reportedly began with a fight between two individuals that escalated, resulting in the victim being stabbed multiple times. A witness at the scene intervened to assist the victim until medical personnel arrived. No immediate arrests have been made following the incident.
In response, Sound Transit suspended service on the 1 Line trains between the University of Washington station and Westlake station, implementing shuttle buses to transport riders around the affected area. The closure is anticipated to last until the following morning, as homicide detectives conduct their investigation. Seattle Police Department has yet to provide additional comments on the situation.
