Fatal crash at White House gate, driver dead, confirms Secret Service
On the evening of Saturday, May 4, 2024, a vehicle crashed into a gate at the White House resulting in the death of the driver. The incident took place shortly before 10:30 p.m. at an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex. The driver was discovered deceased within the vehicle subsequent to the collision.
The U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of the White House, activated security protocols immediately after the crash. Despite the severity of the incident, there was no reported threat to the occupants or the security of the White House.
Following initial assessments, the Secret Service has announced that it will persist in its investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident. In addition, the Secret Service has delegated the investigation of the crash, specifically the fatal aspect, to the Washington Metropolitan Police Department for further examination.
