Emirates Expands Retrofit Program to 71 More A380s and B777s

Emirates Airline is significantly expanding its cabin refurbishment program to include a total of 191 aircraft, an increase from the initial 120 aircraft planned. This expansion adds 43 Airbus A380s and 28 Boeing 777s to the retrofit project. The program, dubbed Project Phoenix, aims to provide customers with an enhanced travel experience through the introduction of next-generation Premium Economy seats, refreshed First Class suites, upgraded Business Class seats, and renewed Economy Class seating.

The refurbishment includes the addition of 8,104 new Premium Economy seats, 1,894 updated First Class suites, 11,182 upgraded Business Class seats, and 21,814 Economy Class seats across the fleet. The first of the Boeing 777 aircraft is scheduled to undergo its interior makeover in July, with an estimated completion time of two weeks per aircraft before re-entering service. The retrofit will also introduce a new 1-2-1 seating configuration in Business Class and updated cabin products across all classes.

So far, 22 A380 aircraft have already been retrofitted, and with the expansion, Emirates is set to deliver a total of 42,994 new seats throughout the cabins of its aircraft. The modernization efforts are being managed and executed in-house by Emirates Engineering. Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, highlighted that this significant investment underscores the airline's commitment to offering a premium experience to more passengers across both the A380 and 777 fleet.
