Dhaka initiates fair price sales of milk, eggs, meat, and fish

During the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is implementing a program to provide various food products at reduced prices to the public. This initiative includes 30 designated sale points across the city where items such as liquid milk, beef, mutton, dressed broiler chicken, and eggs will be available at lower prices. Liquid milk is being sold at Tk 80 per litre, beef at Tk 600 per kg, mutton at Tk 900 per kg, and dressed broiler chicken at Tk 250 per kg. Eggs are priced at Tk 9.17 each.

The sale is being conducted at 25 temporary locations from the first to the 28th day of Ramadan, with an additional five points situated at permanent markets. Notably, the Department of Fisheries has organized for fish to be sold at four designated spots in Dhaka North City Corporation and four spots in Dhaka South City Corporation. These fish sales will operate from 10 am to 3 pm each day, beginning on March 11, and will last for 15 days.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md. Abdur Rahman announced these measures with the intent to help maintain bearable prices during Ramadan. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on consumers during a time when food consumption traditionally increases.
