DBS CEO: Trump Open to Deals Favoring China

DBS Group CEO Piyush Gupta has indicated that if US presidential candidate Donald Trump wins, he would be open to negotiating deals that could benefit China. This statement was made during the Reuters NEXT forum in Singapore. Gupta also expressed optimism about Asia's regional economic growth, projecting rates of 4 to 5%, which are significantly higher than those in other parts of the world.

DBS, the largest bank in Singapore and South-east Asia by asset size, is also the largest shareholder in China's Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank. This position, Gupta noted, provides the bank with a strong presence in the Greater Bay Area. Despite the ongoing geopolitical risks, Gupta remains confident in the robust economic growth prospects for the region.
