Crossbow Attacker Killed After Targeting Guard at Israeli Embassy in Serbia
A man wielding a crossbow shot and wounded a police officer guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, before being shot in return by the officer. The incident, which occurred on June 29, is being treated as an act of terrorism by Serbian Interior Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic. The attack took place when the assailant approached the guard under the pretense of inquiring about nearby sites. The attacker’s identity has not yet been established.
The injured police officer, who sustained a neck wound, is currently undergoing surgery and is in a life-threatening condition. The attacker was shot by the officer in self-defense and later succumbed to his injuries. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the embassy is closed, and no employees were injured. The embassy is located in an upscale district of Belgrade and is guarded by an elite police unit. The investigation into the attacker's identity and motives is ongoing.
