Colin Farrell Transforms in Chilling 'The Penguin' Spinoff Trailer

Colin Farrell is reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin, in a new series set in the aftermath of the events depicted in "The Batman." The series, which has been titled "The Penguin," will continue to explore the gritty underbelly of Gotham City as Cobblepot ascends through the ranks of the city's criminal hierarchy. The recently released trailer showcases Farrell in the titular role, providing audiences with a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming spinoff.

The show, which is set to be an eight-episode series, features a notable cast including Cristin Milioti, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, and others. Lauren LeFranc serves as the executive producer and showrunner, with Matt Reeves, director of "The Batman," on board as an executive producer alongside Dylan Clark, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro. Production on the series began in March 2023, although it faced a temporary halt in June due to industry strikes.

"The Penguin" is part of a broader expansion of the Batman universe, operating under the Elseworlds banner, which signifies its place within a distinct narrative separate from the main DC continuity. It is set to debut on the streaming service Max, which Warner Bros. is in the process of rebranding from HBO Max in selected European countries. The series is expected to launch later in 2024.
