Boston High Rise Evacuated Due to Trash Room Fire

On Saturday morning, a fire initiated in the basement trash room of a 300-unit apartment building at 75 St. Alphonsus Street in Boston's Longwood Medical and Academic Area. The blaze, which started around 7 a.m., caused smoke to spread throughout the building via the trash chute, leading to the discovery of smoke on the 20th floor. The Boston Fire Department promptly responded, and the entire building was evacuated without any injuries reported among the residents or responders.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which is currently under investigation by the city's Inspectional Services Department.
